With the help of the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's
Association and Mr. Jim King, the South Bowers Fire
Company was able to assist a community in western
Virginia fulfill their dreams of their own fire
department.
On Tuesday, October 24, the South
Bowers Fire Company donated a 1976 ford Hahn Pumper to
the Hazel Mountain Fire Company near Clintwood,
Virginia. This vehicle will help this community
which is remotely located in the mountains of western
Virginia start their own community fire company.
This community is several minutes away from their
nearest community therefore this pumper will be of great
use to the citizens of this community.
A local resident from Seaford
Delaware, Hal Browning, who has ties with the Clintwood
Virginia community donated his time and tractor trailer
to haul the truck to Virginia.
The officers and members of the South Bowers Fire
Company wish to thank Mr. Browning for his time and
equipment in helping us with this matter. Also, we
wish the Hazel Mountain Fire Station best of luck with
their new adventures. We look forward to staying
in contact with this community and going to visit later
this spring. |
